Unlike the factory stamped-steel oil pan, the PPE design increases engine oil capacity by approximately 2 US quarts (1.9 litres) while improving heat dissipation through its heavy-duty A356.0-T6 heat-treated cast aluminium construction. The additional oil volume improves thermal stability, helping reduce engine oil temperatures during towing, touring and sustained heavy-load operation.

One of the biggest advantages of the PPE pan is its flat-bottom drainage design. The factory oil pan retains over half a quart of dirty oil after draining, immediately contaminating fresh engine oil during servicing.
