The factory Ford 10R80 transmission is an exceptionally capable 10-speed automatic; however, increased towing loads, larger tyres, ECU tuning and Australia's harsh operating conditions can all contribute to elevated transmission temperatures. In addition, the factory composite transmission pan is more susceptible to damage from rocks, road debris and off-road impacts.

The PPE Heavy Duty Cast Aluminium Deep Transmission Pan has been engineered to improve cooling performance while increasing transmission fluid capacity by approximately 1.75 US quarts (1.65 litres). The additional oil volume, combined with the high-strength cast aluminium construction, helps reduce operating temperatures, improve thermal stability and provides increased protection against underbody impacts encountered during touring, off-road driving and demanding work applications.

Unlike the factory composite transmission pan, the PPE pan features a magnetic drain plug for cleaner servicing and easier transmission maintenance without removing the entire pan.

Manufactured from premium A356.0-T6 heat-treated cast aluminium, the pan incorporates large external cooling fins and internal heat sinks to maximise heat dissipation while improving case rigidity and helping protect the transmission from impacts that could damage the factory composite pan.
